As we bask in the first heatwave of the year I’m taking a closer look at cowboy boots and ankle styles!
I was over the moon when the late May Bank holiday saw the arrival of some gloriously sunny weather here in England. It was very welcome after a chilly start to spring and then one of the wettest, coldest Mays on record. For a while it seemed as though summer was never going to appear. I feared we would be huddled in beer gardens wearing waterproofs and woolly hats forever! After the long winter lockdown, I think we all hoped for a sunny spring!
The sunshine has finally arrived
Thankfully, the sun finally made an appearance and we’ve been treated to plenty of warm weather for June. That’s meant digging out cooler summer clothes and starting to show a little bit of leg – hurrah! Even if you love the long boots, cashmere sweaters and cosiness of winter dressing, there’s something liberating about stepping out knowing it will be sunny from dawn until dusk. It also comes as we look forward to the date (which can’t come soon enough!) when Covid-19 restrictions are lifted. That means we can all plan big outdoor parties and celebrations once more! I’ve so missed seeing my customers at events and fairs during the past year and can’t wait to take the Boot Room on the road again soon.
Of course, with so many of us stuck working from home and even socialising online, 2020 wasn’t particularly inspiring for fashionistas. 2021 promises to be better… Big weddings are coming back and days out at the best summer sporting events beckon, so we’ll be strutting our stuff again very soon. Whether you’re staying the UK or jetting off to sunnier climes, chances are you’ll get your moment in the sun soon.
Styling ankle boots for summer
And all that daydreaming about BBQs, beer gardens, parties and (hopefully!) holidays got me thinking about summer style. Boots worn with dresses is such a fb trend for summer 2021 – even popping up in Vogue this month! I’m so lucky that the Boot Room has a wonderful reputation for our made to measure Spanish riding boots and other long leather styles, but naturally it’s the shorter ankle designs and cowboy boots which sell best in the summer. Two of my all-time favourite styles of ankle boots for the warmer months are the Capri Suede Ankle Boots, shown here in the most beautiful baby blue, and the Tortola Suede Ankle Boots! Pair them with straight or skinny leg jeans and a pretty cami or vest top to step out in style! These pastel shades have been everywhere this spring and they look wonderful paired with cool summer whites too.
Evergreen style from cowboy boots!
2021 sees cowboy boots firmly in fashion which is great news! I adore styling cowboy boots for summer, pairing them with prairie-style tea dresses, denim shorts and floaty, boho-style skirts. There’s so much to play with – ruffles, tribal designs, fringes, gingham, or floral prints – cowboy boots in different lengths and styles will work with all of them! Plus, they are downright comfy too. It doesn’t matter if you’re attending an equestrian event and walking the cross-country course twice. Or if you’re partying at a music festival for three days… Or maybe you’re just meeting friends at a gastro pub – your feet will be just fine.
