It’s high time to dig out waterproof boots!
It was a pleasure to enjoy a last little slice of summer over the past few weeks, and it feels strange that October will arrive at the end of this week. Sitting in the garden in the sun yesterday it seems madness that the clocks would be changing in just over a month! Having said that, after a warm weekend the weather seems to be embracing ‘true’ autumn now. As I write this blog, I’m looking out the window at rain lashing down and the wind snatching leaves from the trees. Without the warm summer sunshine to dry the ground, that means that mud will surely be on the way before long, and the ground will be wet underfoot. If you prefer dry feet to damp feet (and frankly, who doesn’t?!) it’s time to dig out some waterproof boots.
Traditionally, Wellington boots have been a staple of autumn and winter country dressing. But while wellies are marvellous for keeping you dry, they’re not the most stylish of boots. I adore my wellies for gardening, winter dog walks and helping out in bottomless mud (I’m looking at you here, my lovely local farmers and equestrians!), there are other footwear options out there which will keep you dry and can look very smart indeed. Introducing my waterproof ladies leather boots…
Waterproof ladies leather boots
This image of my waterproof boots was sent in by a customer and shows exactly why this style is so popular! These smart ladies boots are handcrafted from premium-quality waterproof leather with a clever Sympatex lining and Vibram sole. That means they are comfortable and breathable to wear all day long, are incredibly durable and keep water out. They are the classic Spanish riding boot style which is perennially popular. These boots will see you from weekend dog walks and local point-to-points to pub evenings and shoot days. I even reach for mine when I’m off to a town or city for some shopping or lunch – obviously having given them a clean to get the mud off first… As with all my boots, you can request a custom fit of the waterproof boots. There are limitations to the material you can choose – waterproof leather is essential!
If you’d like to learn more about my waterproof boots or enquire about made to measure options, just drop me a line and I’d be happy to help.
The beaufort christmas fair
Speaking of poor weather and winter, one rather big thing is lurking on the horizon.. It might feel early to say it out loud, but I’m talking about Christmas! My boots make wonderful Christmas presents, so my followers won’t be surprised to hear that planning for the festive season is well underway at the Boot Room HQ. We’ve been busy sending information out to magazines to see if we can get in their gift guides. I’m also busy planning which shopping events and Christmas fairs to attend. The first one I have confirmed and in the diary is the Beaufort Christmas Fair and I can’t wait! It’s always a brilliant gathering of small businesses and craftspeople with products which make perfect Christmas presents.
This year’s fair takes place on Tuesday the 23rd of November and runs from 9:30am to 8pm. That means it’s perfect for anyone, whether they work or not! I know los of people who will pop in for a browse after work. It’s in Long Newnton near Tetbury and entry is just £5 on the door. I’ll be there with the Waterproof Boots and the rest of the Boot Room collection, from sleek suede boots to bright cowboy styles and everything in between. If you’re in the area, make sure you pop this in your diary now! There’s lots more information over on their website too, which you can find here.
